An alternate gobhi recipe – just in case…

Gobhi Curry

(Serves 2)

  • 1 small cauliflower
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 tomato, pureed or chopped fine
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1/2 tsp haldi
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • oil for frying

This is very similar to the gobhi fry recipe, except that it has onions and tomatoes. Repeat the process for washing cleaning and chopping the cauliflower into small florets as in gobhi fry.

In a kadhai/ wok/ deep fry pan heat the oil and add the onions and green chilli. When browned, add the haldi, chilli pdr and tomato paste/ puree. Add the florets and salt and cook covered for a while, and then open and fry a while longer (as before.)

(If using chopped tomatoes instead of pureed, cook the tomatoes till soft and then add the florets etc.)

It looks pretty similar to the gobhi fry, but there is a subtle and yet distinct difference in the taste. Of course, this actually tastes delicious with… you guessed it, chopped DHANIA!
